MOVING house is said to be one of the most stressful things you can do in life, along with getting married.
But one couple did both within the space of just two weeks.
Luckily for Nicola and Barry Prior, they had a hassle-free move after taking advantage of Mersea Homes’ part-exchange scheme.
And within eight weeks of deciding that the Wellhouse Green development on Mersea Island was for them, they had the keys to their three-bedroom new home.
Nicola, a social worker based in Chelmsford, had put their two-bedroom terraced home in Rowhedge, Colchester up for sale through conventional methods.
“We had four estate agents look at it and they all said in would sell in a couple of weeks,” she said.
“It hadn’t sold by the time we looked at Mersea Homes and decided we wanted a house there. We were told about their part-exchange scheme and within five days Mersea had made us an offer and it had all gone through. We have got a very good deal.”
The couple agreed to buy the three-bedroom Alpine toward the end of January. By mid March they had the keys to their new home - exactly two weeks before their Big Day.
Barry, a physiotherapy lecturer at Colchester Institute, added: “We were very lucky that it was in the end a simple transaction. Mersea Homes were pretty quick off the mark.”
There are also incentives for first time buyers who can take advantage of a five per cent discount on any of the properties. Sales staff are expecting an increase in viewing after opening a show apartment at the development.

four-bed detached Lanyard.
